[[p]]Recent research of the top 100 US and UK financial services firms and their Instagram usage, showed that&nbsp;on both sides of the Atlantic a similar&nbsp;but surprising picture is painted.[[/p]]

[[p]]Of the 100 US firms we researched:[[/p]]

	[[li]]Only[[strong]]&nbsp;31%[[/strong]]&nbsp;had active Instagram accounts[[/li]]
	[[li]][[strong]]21%[[/strong]]&nbsp;had followings over 100[[/li]]
	[[li]][[strong]]11%[[/strong]]&nbsp;had followings over 1,000[[/li]]
[[/ul]]

[[p]]Of the 100 UK firms we looked at:[[/p]]

[[ul]]
	[[li]]Only [[strong]]30%[[/strong]]&nbsp;were active[[/li]]
	[[li]][[strong]]20%[[/strong]]&nbsp;had followings over 100[[/li]]
	[[li]][[strong]]6%&nbsp;[[/strong]]had followings over 1,000[[/li]]
[[/ul]]

[[p]]This means there is a significant opportunity to use Instagram to reach the audiences of the future; and opportunity that financial services firms are at present failing to capitalize on.[[/p]]

[[p]]Below are 5 tips to make Instagram work for your Financial Services firm.[[/p]]

If&nbsp;not, then your images/videos will display poorly&nbsp;on your profile page and won&#39;t be making the most of your virtual real estate. [[p]]Content that is about your employees&nbsp;or related to charity&nbsp;or educational issues are usually the most successful options for Instagram. Only&nbsp;[[strong]]12%[[/strong]]&nbsp;of UK financial services companies and&nbsp;[[strong]]8%&nbsp;[[/strong]]of US firms currently use educational content. Differentiate yourself![[/p]]

[[p]]In addition, to maximize the reach of your content, include relevant hashtags in your posts so they can become part of trending topics.&nbsp; Don&rsquo;t overdo it though, crowding as many hashtags as you can into your post doesn&rsquo;t look great.[[/p]]

[[p]]It is important that your visual identity is consistent on Instagram. Maintain a similar style on all your Instagram posts. It is worth picking a color palette and a selection of filters and fonts that you stick to when creating content.[[/p]]

[[p]]Select a tone and a theme for your Instagram account. Whether your voice is playful, informal or professional is up to you, but once you pick a voice, stick to it![[/p]]
